Tips for using the days between dates calculator

  • For deadlines like "within 30 days", check whether the day of the event counts as day zero or day one.
  • US federal holidays add up to 11 a year; subtract the ones in your range.
  • Use the age calculator to count from a birth date.

How the days between dates calculator works

The calculator converts both dates to calendar days and subtracts them, so leap years and month lengths are handled automatically.

Days = End date − Start date (+1 if the end date counts)
Weekdays = days that fall Monday to Friday

By default the result is the difference, which counts the start date but not the end date: from Monday to Friday is 4 days. Choose inclusive counting to include both dates, which is how many contracts and leave policies count. Weekdays exclude Saturdays and Sundays but not public holidays, so subtract holidays that fall in the range for a business-day count.

Worked example

From January 1, 2026 to December 31, 2026 is 364 days (52 weeks), or 365 if you include the end date. 260 of those days are weekdays. Expressed in calendar units, the span is 11 months and 30 days.
